I will be guiding a tour through eight or so blocks throughout the Garment District, where I once worked and continue to shop for everything fashion-related. I will be available for questions, and guidance on how to use and sew certain fabrics, what different fabrics can be used for, the difficulty of working with select fabrics, and a lot of the hows and whys. This trip is limited to 8 people.
The beginning of the tour will be fast-paced so everyone can get a chance to see and then focus on what shops they would like to visit on their own for more in-depth shopping. I will have a list of all the stores, addresses and the types of fabrics & trims they specialize in, about 15 - 20 stores.
We will take the 7:25 am Martz bus from Scranton to mid-town Manhattan, just blocks from the garment district, and will return on 5:45 pm bus. We will have a quick lunch at Pret A Manger on 7th Avenue. https://www.pret.com/en-US
We will be going to retail stores selling high-end designer overrun & second fabrics (Mood Fabrics, where Project Runway shops), upholstery fabric, cotton, silk, specialty denim, wool, printed fabrics, linen, all types of synthetics, trims, metal hardware, novelty zippers, buttons, shirting fabrics, ribbon, leather, faux fur, velvets, spandex, rhinestones, sequin, glitz, lace ... items imported from all over the world and quite honestly, anything you are looking for.
